Together with the Province of Limburg, TNO is a partner in the long-term programmatic contractual partnership Brightlands Materials Center. BMC in Sittard-Geleen focuses on innovative polymeric materials and coatings through four program lines, including sustainable buildings.
The Sustainable Buildings program line is the initiator of this OP Zuid project LEEF and contributes the knowledge and experience of the new technology for the colors of solar panels and the technology for the thermochromic coatings on windows. This technology for dirt-repellent BIPV panels will be demonstrated in the project on 300 solar panels that are placed and monitored in a practical environment. The technology for smart thermochromic windows will be demonstrated in the project on two demo windows that will be placed and monitored in a test building. BMC will expand its existing infrastructure with a pilot line for the single-sided application of functional coatings on glass.
