On Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October 2022, the weekend of science took place on the Chemelot campus. In collaboration with Laudy Bouw, we developed a test set-up to visualise our innovation.
How smart windows save energy
The first affordable, sustainable, energy-optimised window. High visible transparency combined with autonomously switch (thermochromic), from solar infrared transmissive to blocking state depending on the temperature, without visible color change, for efficient heat management in the built environment.
SunSmart is Brightlands Materials Center Thermochromic Solar Control Glazing for architectural glazing. The coating can change its properties from infrared transparent to IR blocking depending on the glass temperature.
